STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Iowa State gymnastics team earned their highest score of the season on vault during Saturday's quad meet at Penn State. Alex Marasco led the team on the event with a career high 9.900, helping the team to a team score of 49.275 during the last rotation, securing their second place finish. The Cyclones earned a total score of 195.375, competing against Penn, Penn State, and Brockport. Penn State took first place with 196.650, Penn was third with 191.925, and Brockport took fourth with 190.700.
Vault
The Cyclones earned a season-high team score of 49.275 on vault, beating their old season high by 0.250. The mark tied for the 17th-best vault score in program history.
Alex Marasco led the team with a new career high score of 9.900. Caitlin Brown earned a 9.875 to tie her career high. Haylee Young received a 9.850. Kelsey Paz and Micole O'Dell both earned 9.825's, setting Paz's new career high and tying O'Dell's. Briana Ledesma also earned a career high with 9.800.
Floor
Hilary Green earned the highest score on floor with a 9.800. Haylee Young and Kristen DeCosta both earned 9.775, and Caitlin Brown and Lark Pokladnik both received 9.750. The team score for this event was a 48.850.
Beam
Iowa State competed on balance beam during the second rotation of the meet, earning 48.825. Caitlin Brown brought in the highest score with a 9.875. Alex Marasco earned the next highest with 9.825. Haylee Young also contributed with a 9.775.
Bars
Hilary Green led the Cyclones on bars to start out the meet. She earned a 9.875, and was followed by Briana Ledesma, who received a 9.800. Sammie Pearsall earned a 9.750 to bring the ISU team score on the uneven bars to 48.425.
All-Around
Haylee Young earned Iowa State's highest all-around score with a 38.775. Caitlin Brown earned a 38.425 for her all-around score.
Coming Up
The Cyclones will be taking on Iowa as a part of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series next Friday evening. They will compete at Iowa City, Iowa at 7:30 p.m.
