AMES, Iowa-The Iowa State gymnastics team came out strong at their "Think Pink" home meet for the win against Centenary College. With season-high team scores on both vault and bars in the first two rotations, the Cyclones' high energy performance brought them the 195.775-187.250 victory. The other important factor in Iowa State's win were the nine event career-high scores from individual gymnasts.
Uneven Bars
Five out of six gymnasts competing on bars recorded personal bests, bringing the overall team score to an impressive 49.150. Hilary Green brought in the highest score an Iowa State gymnast has had on the event this season, a 9.900. Other career high scores for ISU gymnasts included: Caitlin Brown with a 9.875, Haylee Young with a 9.850, Briana Ledesma with a 9.775, and Sammie Pearsall with a 9.750.
Vault
Iowa State started the meet strong, earning a 49.025 on vault during the first rotation. Caitlin Brown led the team on the event with a score of 9.850. Haylee Young and Micole O'Dell both earned 9.825's, O'Dell posting a career high. Kelsey Paz also earned a career high score on the event, a 9.800.
Balance Beam
Kelsey Paz recorded the highest score of the night on balance beam, as well as her personal best with a 9.875. Haylee Young and Allie Hansen both contributed scores of 9.825, which tied Hansen's career high. Iowa State earned a score of 48.700 on beam.
Floor Exercise
The Cyclones finished the meet on floor, earning a team score of 48.900. Haylee Young earned the highest score for ISU with a 9.825. Caitlin Brown and Kristen DeCosta both earned 9.800 and Micole O'Dell followed them with a career-high 9.775.
All Around
Caitlin Brown and Haylee Young both competed in the all-around for Iowa State. Haylee tied her personal best with a 39.325 and came in first place at the meet.
Coming Up
The Cyclones will be travelling to the IGI Chicago Style Meet to compete against Yale and Northern Illinois next weekend at Navy Pier . The meet will start at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening.
