AMES, Iowa - After five-straight weeks on the road, the Iowa State softball team is finally back home and will play its first games of the 2015 season at the Cyclone Sports Complex this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders. ISU will host South Dakota on Saturday and Miami University on Sunday, both double-dips will start at 1 p.m. with the second game following immediately afterwards.
Admission to this weekend's game, and all Iowa State home softball games at the Cyclone Sports Complex, is free.
The games will not be shown on the Cyclones.TV Powered by Mediacom or the Cyclones.TV web player on either day due to a strain on equipment and staff because of the multitude of Iowa State events going on. Cyclones.TV will make its season debut for Wednesday's game against Nebraska and will show all of ISU's home game from there on out.

Cyclone Headlines
- After five weeks on the road, the Iowa State softball team finally returns home this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders. ISU will host South Dakota on Saturday and Miami University on Sunday. Both days will see action start at 1 p.m.
- The Cyclones closed out the non-conference tournament portion of its schedule last weekend with a 3-2 record at the Michele Smith Spring Break Tournament in Tampa. After going 0-2 against Boston and hosts USF on the first day, ISU reeled off three-straight wins, taking down St. Joseph's and Massachusetts on Saturday and defeating Rutgers in extra innings on Sunday.
- Iowa State's offense is led by Brittany Gomez, with the junior hitting .416 on the season, ranking eighth in the Big 12. With 17 stolen bases, Gomez sits second in the Big 12 and 26th in the NCAA.
- For her career, Gomez is ISU's all-time leader in batting average (.386) and stolen bases (72). She also has 178 career hits, which ranks fifth in Iowa State history and is 38 away from the Cyclones' career school record.
- In the Cyclones' win over UC-Santa Barbara on Mar. 7, Brittany Gomez put up a historic stat line to lead ISU to victory. Gomez went 5-for-5 with four runs, four RBIs and three stolen bases. Gomez's five hits tied the Iowa State single-game record, previously only reached by Carleigh Berry at Missouri State in 2009.
- Senior shortstop Lexi Slater had a strong weekend in Tampa after a slow start to 2015. Across the five games, Slater hit .471 with eight hits and six RBIs.
- Slater set Iowa State's career doubles record during ISU's win over Eastern Kentucky on Mar. 8, taking down Alex Johnson's (2007-10) previous record of 38.. With another double last weekend, Slater now has 40 career two-baggers.
- Maddie Reese's power has been crucial to the Cyclones' efforts so far this season. The senior leads Iowa State with seven home runs and is second on the squad with 18 RBIs on the season, slugging .610 in the process. Last year, Reese had no home runs, six RBIs and slugged .210.
- The Iowa State pitching staff is greatly improved from last season. After finishing with a team ERA of 6.78 last year, the team currently boasts a 3.48 team ERA.
