The Wildcats earned the early doubles point, taking wins at the No. 1 and 2 slots. Carolina Costamagna and Palma Juhasz defeated Cyclone senior Ksenia Pronina and sophomore Samantha Budai, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles. Senior Meghan Cassens and junior Ana Gasparovic fell to Iva Bago and Livia Cirnu, 6-3, at No. 2.
The Cyclones fought back in singles matches after a loss for Cassens with a win from Budai at the No. 1 slot. The London, Ontario, native defeated Costamagna, 6-1, 6-3. Kansas State answered by taking the win at No. 5, with Maria Panaite taking down senior Caroline Andersen, 6-3, 6-0, to go ahead 3-1.
The Cyclones answered by taking the final three wins of the match from Pronina, Gasparovic, and junior Alejandra Galvis. It was Gasparovic's first singles win since returning from an injury, earning the tying point for the Cyclones over Tegan Louw, 6-1, 6-3.
Galvis' win over Cirnu was her seventh in a row. Galvis is now 3-1 in Big 12 play. The Colombia native has been the deciding factor in two matches in as many weeks, leading the way to two Iowa State conference wins.
ISU will be back to the courts on Friday in Ames, where they will take on Texas at 3 p.m.
