LUBBOCK, Texas- The Iowa State tennis team (7-13, 2-6 Big 12) suffered a 4-0 loss on the road on Sunday to No. 15 Texas Tech (17-4, 7-1 Big 12).
Losses at No. 1 and 3 doubles put the Cyclones behind early in the match. Sophomore Samantha Budai and senior Ksenia Pronina fell 6-1 to No. 44 pair Kenna Kilgo and Gabriela Talaba. Senior Caroline Andersen and junior Alejandra Galvis fell, 6-3, at No. 3 to Sarah Dvorak and Katelyn Jackson.
Andersen also struggled in singles, eventually losing her match, 6-2, 6-0, to Sabrina Federici at No. 5, kicking off a run of singles wins for the Lady Raiders. A loss for Meghan Cassens at No. 3 singles followed, with No. 92-ranked Dvorak taking the match, 6-0, 6-2. Finally, Texas Tech clinched the win at No. 4 singles with No. 74-ranked Lynn Kiro defeating sophomore Natalie Phippen, 6-2, 6-3.
ISU will return to Ames next, taking the courts for the final Big 12 dual match of the season against Oklahoma State on Friday at 3 p.m.
