AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State soccer team will play its final exhibition game against the Northern Illinois Huskies on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Cyclone Sports Complex. Saturday's game will feature Fan Fest, which will include a bounce house, bags and a photo booth. After the game, student-athletes will sign autographs.
Last Time Out
Iowa State is coming off its first exhibition game of the season where they traveled to South Bend, Indiana, to take on Notre Dame. The Cyclones had a good showing from some of the newcomers, but the ninth-ranked Fighting Irish came out strong and the Cyclones fell 4-0.
Scouting the Huskies
The Huskies went 5-7-6 in 2014 and bring back an experienced team by returning eight starters and 81 percent of their goals. Senior Nicole Gobbo and sophomore Lauren Gierman are the keys to the Huskies' attack. The pair tallied three goals apiece and combined for four assists. Gierman netted the team's lone goal on a free kick just outside the box in NIU's 1-1 exhibition draw at Green Bay.
What to Watch For
The Cyclones will look to attack Northern Illinois' defense, which lost three starters from its backline to graduation. The key to watch for is how the Cyclones advance the ball and look to put shots on goal.
