Cyclones Finish the Weekend Perfect Against Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team (4-1, 0-0 Big 12) finished up the weekend strong with a 4-0 victory over the Drake Bulldogs (2-2, 0-0 MVC) at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. The dual victory wraps up a perfect weekend for the Cyclones.

The pairing of Regina Espindola and Anna Kuuttila started the second day of competition on the right note with a 6-2 victory over Joely Lomas and Mela Jaglarz. Annabella Bonadonna and Alejandra Galvis secured the doubles point in the last doubles set. They beat the pairing of Summer Brills and Maddie Johnson, 7-6 (7).

Iowa State continued its strong play by winning the first three singles matches of the day. Bonadonna led singles play off with an impressive 6-3, 6-0 victory over Mela Jaglarz. Galvis and Liza Buss followed Bonadonna up by winning their respective matches, as well. Galvis defeated Joely Lomas, 6-2, 6-2. Buss' victory moves her singles record to 14-2 on the season.

The Cyclones will be back in action in Logan, Utah on Friday, Feb. 12 against Idaho State at 4 p.m. The Cyclones will also be facing off against Utah State on Saturday and Weber State on Sunday.
