Iowa State heads into the match riding a season-high five-match win streak after taking down Oklahoma in four sets in Norman Wednesday night. The Cyclones put together one of the most balanced efforts of all-time, with six Cyclones finishing with at least 10 kills, a first in ISU program history. Stopping Texas at the net will be an important factor for ISU, since switching to the 6-2 offense, the Cyclones have averaged 2.20 blocks per set.
After losing at Kansas a fortnight ago, Texas finds itself in a fight for the Big 12 regular season title for the first time in many years, and cannot afford a slip-up in that pursuit. The Longhorns' offense on the pins has been dominant in 2016, with Ebony Nwanebu, Paulina Prieto Cerame and Micaya White dominating matches on an almost routine basis. The Cyclones will be looking for their first win in the series since 2012, when ISU knocked off UT in five at Hilton Coliseum in the regular season finale. That season, Texas went on to win the national championship.
