AMES, Iowa - The NCAA DI Cross Country Championships await the No. 23 Iowa State men's and No. 16 women's squads on Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana. The meet will be run at LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course, with the women's 6K race slated to begin at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the men's 10K at 11 a.m. CT.
Iowa State will be one of just 14 programs in the country to have both its men's and women's teams take the course on Saturday, as both qualified in the same year for the ninth time in school history, and just the second time since 1995. The Cyclone women are one of eight programs nationally to receive a bid to the NCAA Championships in each of the last eight years. The men advanced to the NCAA meet as a team for the first time since 2009.
Both squads received at-large bids to the NCAA Championships after the women finished third at the Midwest Regional meet, while the men placed fourth. The teams, which had both accumulated strong regular and postseason resumes, were among 13 teams selected by the NCAA for at-large berths.
