• Iowa State hosts Cincinnati in the second year of a home-and-home agreement Thursday night at Hilton Coliseum...the game will be televised by ESPN, with Doug Sherman and Miles Simon on the call.
• The Cyclones look to avoid back-to-back losses as they put their 37-game nonconference home winning streak on the line.

• Iowa State is ranked No. 19 in the Associated Press preseason poll, up two spots from last week...the Cyclones have been ranked in a school-record 60 consecutive AP polls, the third-longest streak nationally (Kansas, Arizona)...ISU is No. 21 in the coaches poll.
• ISU went 2-1 last week at the AdvoCare Invitational, defeating Indiana State and Miami, before falling to now-No. 8 Gonzaga by two points in the championship game.
• The Cyclones are averaging 88.8 points per game, but didn't top 73 last weekend in Orlando...defensively, the Cyclones are locking opponents down, holding the opposition to 64.8 points and 35.6 field-goal percentage (eighth nationally).
• According to KenPom.com, ISU is one of 19 teams to rank among the nation's top-35 in adjusted offensive (23) and defensive (34) efficiency...last season, ISU was 91st in defensive efficiency.
• Deonte Burton earned all-tournament team honors at the AdvoCare Invitational...the senior finished the weekend with a 29 point-12 rebound performance against Gonzaga...in the last two games against the Zags and Miami, Burton averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds...he hit 5-of-7 three-pointers in those two games...it marks the first time scoring 20 points in back-to-back games in his career.
• Monté Morris, who is making his 93rd consecutive start, is leading the Cyclones with 16.0 points per game...Morris is shooting 52.6 percent from the field and a career-best 42.9 percent behind the arc.
• Nazareth Mitrou-Long had his best shooting performance behind the arc against Gonzaga, connecting on 4-of-9 3-pointers...he is second on the team averaging 15.2 points.
• The Cyclones have been much better on the glass than a year ago...ISU has been outrebounded just once, by one rebound against Miami...much of the improvement can be pinned on Burton, who is averaging 8.5 rebounds per game after entering the season with a career average of 2.7 rpg...the Cyclone guards have shown improvement on the glass, with Mitrou-Long improving his career average from 2.0 to 6.8...Morris has also improved from 3.3 career to 5.2 this season.
• It should come as no surprise, but Iowa State ranks among the nation's top teams in taking care of the basketball...the Cyclones average 11.0 turnovers per game, which leads the Big 12...ISU's turnover percentage of 14.0 ranks seventh nationally.
• Iowa State is without the help of freshman post Solomon Young (left hand injury)...Young is not expected to play against Cincinnati, though he will likely dress, and may miss four weeks...prior to his injury, Young was averaging 8.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench...he was shooting 71.3 percent from the field.
• ISU has dominated the paint the first four games, outscoring opponents 263-128 in the lane...it also holds a 113-43 edge on second-chance points...the Cyclones are averaging 14.2 offensive boards per game, with Merrill Holden (2.5) and Burton (2.0) combining for 4.5 offensive caroms per contest.
• Iowa State is the nation's sixth-most experienced team, and first among Power-5 schools, according to KenPom.com.

• Iowa State and Cincinnati are meeting for the sixth time in series history...the Bearcats own a 3-2 edge in the series...this is the first time the teams have met in Ames...ISU's two wins have been by a combined three points.
• Iowa State defeated Cincinnati, 81-79, last season on the Bearcats' home court three days before Christmas...Abdel Nader, who was a second-round pick of the Boston Celtics, connected on a 3-pointer with 11 seconds to go to put the Cyclones in front for good...Georges Niang led all scorers with 24 points, while Morris (16), Thomas (13) and Burton (12) were also in double figures...the Cyclones turned it over just seven times.
• Steve Prohm is 1-0 all-time against Cincinnati...Prohm and Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin are both former Murray State head coaches...Cronin was at MSU from 2004-06, going 69-24 and making two NCAA Tournaments.
• ISU is 12-10 all-time against teams from the American Athletic Conference.
Last Time Out - Furious Rally Falls Short Against Gonzaga
• Iowa State made a furious rally, coming back from 18 points down to have a shot to win it, but ultimately came up short against Gonzaga on Sunday...the final score was 73-71, with ISU holding the Bulldogs to just 24 points in the second half.
• ISU got into a deep hole in the first half as Gonzaga hit 8-of-12 3-pointers in the opening stanza and shot 64.5 percent from the field as a whole...the Cyclone defense clamped down in the second half, holding the Bulldogs to just 29.2 percent shooting.
• Burton had his best game as a Cyclone, finishing with a career-high 29 points to go along with 12 rebounds...he hit 13-of-24 from the field and 3-of-5 from downtown...Burton scored 11 points in ISU's 15-point run that trimmed the deficit from 18 to three points in a four minute span.
• Mitrou-Long finished with 16 points, hitting four 3-pointers for the 15th time in his career...he also grabbed nine rebounds...Morris was the only other Cyclone in double figures, tallying 14 points and nine assists.
