AMES, Iowa – Former Iowa State golfer Cajsa Persson didn't waste any time proving she is going to be a success as a professional.
The 2016 Iowa State graduate will be playing inside the ropes on the Ladies European Tour in 2017 after finishing 11th at the 2017 Lalla Aicha Tour School Final Qualifying stage.
The Jönköping, Sweden native needed to place in the top-30 to earn her category 8 status for next season's LET, and she made it with plenty of room to spare. Persson went 9-under through the final two rounds (69-66) to finish the five-round tournament at 351 (70-72-74-69-66). The final cut line was 358.
Sweden's Madelene Sagstrom won the tournament at 343.
Persson is one of the greatest golfers in Iowa State history. She wrapped up her brilliant Cyclone career in 2016 with a 75.17 career stroke average, fourth-best in the ISU record book.
Persson, who earned All-Tournament honors at the Big 12 Championship three times (2013, 2015, 2016), played in four NCAA Regionals and helped the Cyclones earn a trip to their first and only NCAA Championship in 2014.
She ended her career with eight top-10 finishes.
