Zheng Records Another Top 5 Finish at the Windy City Classic

GLENCOE, Ill. - Emma Zheng secures her third-consecutive Top 5 finish to start her career, this time tying for fifth at the Windy City Classic at two-over par. The reigning Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month shot a 68 (-3) in the final round, her sixth round in the 60's on the season to jump 26 spots. Zheng finished in the Top 10 in Par 3 (3.00, T-10th) and Par 4 (4.06, T-7th) scoring, and carded seven birdies in the process.
Nichakorn Pinprayoon shot seven-over to tie for 28th, which included an even-par 71 in the second round. Pinprayoon tallied nine birdies in the tournament, tied for the ninth-most in the field. Alexandra Vidal ties for 44th at +13, highlighted by an opening round score of 71. Vidal totaled seven birdies across her three rounds.
Krittiya Thanintorndamrongdej jumped seven spots into a tie for 47th (+14). Thanintorndamrongdej carded four birdies the past two days. Isabella Yan rounds out the scoring for ISU, tying for 51st at +15. Yan finished with four birdies in the tournament.
On a day where scoring was its toughest (75.22 final round scoring average), the Cyclonitas moved up two spots and into 10th place (290-300-296=886). Despite a +13 final round, Stanford holds on to win the Windy City Classic at four-over par. Virginia's Jaclyn LaHa earns individual medalist honors, finishing the tournament at -7 and just one of three women to finish under par.
The Iowa State women's golf team will look to get back to their winning ways at the Stanford Intercollegiate in California. The three-day tournament will start on Friday, October 16th.
