• Iowa State travels for its first true road contest of the season when it meets Iowa in Iowa City Thursday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena...a win would give ISU the first four-game win streak in the series since Iowa did so from 1978-83.
• The matchup is part of the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series...heading into the week, which will spotlight contests in women's basketball, men's hoops, swimming and diving and wrestling, ISU holds a 7-6 lead in the series...the Cyclones have won or shared the trophy in each of the last three seasons.

• Iowa State is ranked No. 25 in the Associated Press preseason poll, down six spots from last week...the Cyclones have been ranked in a school-record 61 consecutive AP polls, the third-longest streak nationally (Kansas, Arizona)...ISU is also No. 25 in the coaches poll.
• ISU bounced back from consecutive losses to defeat Omaha, 91-47, Monday night at Hilton Coliseum...the Cyclones had their best shooting night (15-for-29 3FG) and stifled the Mavs to the tune of 28.4 percent shooting.
• In the last five halves of play, ISU has not allowed an opponent to score more than 25 points or shoot better than 40 percent from the field.
• Iowa State is  one of the nation's top-35 teams in both offensive (31) and defensive (22) efficiency according to KenPom.com...ISU was 91st last season in defensive efficiency and hasn't ranked among the top-50 nationally since the 2004-05 season.
• ISU's opponents are shooting 34.6 percent from the field (4th nationally)...only two opponents have shot above 40 percent from the field against the Cyclones this season.
• Iowa State and West Virginia are the only teams in the Big 12 that rank in the top-5 of the league in scoring offense (84.8) and scoring defense (61.4).
• Deonte Burton and Monté Morris are leading the way for the Cyclones...the duo is combining to average 28.9 points and 12.0 rebounds per game...Morris ranks 21st nationally in assists per game (6.3) and 11th in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.2)...in the last four games, Burton is averaging 19.8 points and has hit 9-of-13 threes...both players are among the top-10 scorers in the Big 12...Burton also ranks fifth in rebounding.
• Morris needs three points to pass Gary Thompson for 22nd and nine points to pass Robert Estes for 21st on ISU's all-time scoring list...against Omaha, Morris dished out his 600th career assist, becoming just the third Cyclone and sixth playing in Big 12 history to reach the mark.
• Matt Thomas is two 3-pointers shy of matching former coach Fred Hoiberg (183) for fifth on ISU's career threes made list.
• Darrell Bowie is averaging 11.5 points and shooting 53.3 percent from the field (2-3 3FG) in the last two games.
• It should come as no surprise, but Iowa State ranks among the nation's top teams in taking care of the basketball...the Cyclones average 10.5 turnovers per game, which leads the Big 12...ISU's turnover percentage of 13.8 ranks third nationally.
• Freshman post Solomon Young (left hand injury) returned to the lineup against Omaha after missing four games...Young provides depth inside for the Cyclones...he is averaging 8.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game...Young is 14-for-19 from the field.

• Iowa State and Iowa are meeting for the 70th time, with ISU winning six of the last seven games...Iowa leads the all-time series vs. Iowa State at 43-26, but 19 of ISU's 26 wins in the series have occured since 1984...since 1984, Iowa State leads the series 19-15...ISU is 7-3 in the last 10 games and is currently riding a three-game winning streak.
• Iowa owns a 27-7 edge in games played in Iowa City, though the Cyclones have won two of the last three meetings on the road...ISU is seeking to win in back-to-back trips to Iowa City for just the second time (1994, 1996).

Last Time Out - Defense, 3-Point Shooting Leads ISU Past Omaha
• Iowa State sank a season-high 15 three-pointers and held Omaha to season-low scoring en route to a 91-47 win Monday night at Hilton Coliseum.
• Burton scored the first 13 points for the Cyclones and finished with 20 points...Donovan Jackson scored a career-high 15 points, making 5-of-8 three-pointers...Bowie (12) and Mitrou-Long (11) were also in double figures.
• Morris dished out nine assists for the Cyclones, who finished with 22 dimes on 33 made field goals.
