Iowa State's Success Continues Against Utah State

LOGAN, Utah- The Iowa State tennis team (6-1, 0-0 Big 12) defeated Utah State (2-4, 0-0 MWC) on Saturday to keep its winning streak alive and their hope to go perfect on their weekend in Utah.

Once again the Cyclones started their match off on the right note by stealing the doubles point. The pairing of Annabella Bonadonna and Alejandra Galvis continued their strong play together, setting the tone for the entire match. The pairing defeated Lexi Turle and /Maggie O'Meara 6-3. The freshman and senior duo will look to go perfect together on the weekend tomorrow. Samantha Budai and Liza Buss repeated their performance yesterday when they sealed the doubles point with their 6-4 victory. They defeated the top pairing of Ekaterina Tugarinova and Nini Guensler.

Galvis used the momentum from their doubles victory into singles playing by being the first Cyclone to defeat her opponent. Galvis beat Sabrina Demerath 6-4, 6-1. Regina Espindola followed up Galvis by not surrendering a set to her opponent. Espindola defeated Monika Van De Vondel 6-2, 6-3. Ana Gasparovic was the final Cyclone to defeat her opponent. Gasparovic defeated Jenna Kane 6-1, 6-3.

The Cyclones will travel to Ogden, Utah tomorrow to take on Weber State. The team will be focused on going perfect in three duals on a weekend for the second time this spring season.
