OGDEN, Utah- The Iowa State tennis team (7-1, 0-0 Big 12) finished off a perfect weekend for the second time this spring season. The Cyclones defeated the Weber State Wildcats (0-6, 0-0 Big Sky) 4-0.
Iowa State entered the weekend with three opportunties to continue its winning streak. The Cyclones defeated both of their opponents in Logan, Utah and looked to finish strong Sunday afternoon against the wildcats. Their success can be attributed to both their doubles and singles play of late.
The team continued their streak of doubles victories to four when all three Cyclone pairings defeated their opponents. Samantha Budai and Liza Buss started it off with a 6-1 victory over Sara Parker and Agata Bachanek. The top pairing moves to 16-4 together on the season.
The Cyclones once again used their momentum from doubles play to carry them through singles play with three quick victories to clinch the win. Buss defeated Kristi Elmer 6-3, 6-1 to move to 21-4. Fellow freshman Annabella Bonadonna also continued her success this season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Morgan Dickason.
The team will be back in action next Friday against the in-state rival Northern Iowa at home. The meet will be at 3:00 p.m at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center.
