Cyclones Dominate Red Wolves, 7-0

JONESBORO, Ark. - The Iowa State tennis team (10-2, 0-0 Big 12) got back on track Thursday when they defeated the Arkansas State Red Wolves (0-8, 0-0 Sun Belt) 7-0.

Due to weather, the match was moved indoors at RidgePointe Country Club, but that did not stop the Cyclones from dominating the Red Wolves on their home court. The Cyclones came out strong with the mindset to not lose two in a row.

The team started out fast by securing the doubles point with both of the Cyclones' top pairing winning their match in impressive fashion. Samantha Budai and Liza Buss defeated Julia Gauguery and Victoria Roberts 6-0 to start it off. The momentum from the top pairing carried the team throughout the day. Alejandra Galvis and Annabella Bonadonna followed them up by defeating Sofia Krsmanovic and Victoria Pisani 6-3.

After securing the doubles point in only two matches, the Cyclones started off quick when Anna Kuutilla defeated Chiara Stefanov 6-0, 6-1. Galvis followed up her strong play in doubles by defeating Sabrina Jeresic 8-6. Galvis' victory moves her season singles record to 19-4. Buss matched up against Victoria Roberts in singles play as well. Buss defeated Roberts 6-0, 6-2.

The Cyclones will be back in action on Saturday in Memphis, Tenn. when they face off against the Memphis Tigers at 12:00 p.m.
