MINNEAPOLIS, Minn- The Iowa State tennis team (9-2, 0-0 Big 12) fell to the 45th-ranked Minnesota Gophers (9-4, 1-0 Big 10) 5-2 Sunday at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
The Cyclones were unable to get it going from the start in doubles play on Sunday. The top pairing of Samanntha Budai and Liza Buss was the only duo to defeat the Gophers in a doubles match. They defeated Paula Rincon-Otero and AnneMarie Emme 6-3.
Alejandra Galvis was another positive for the Cyclones this weekend when she continued her success against Jessika Mozia. Galvis defeated Mozia, 6-1, 6-3, which moved her singles record to 18-4 on the season. Regina Espindola was the other Cyclone to earn a point for the Cyclones. Espindola defeated AnneMarie Emme 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 and moved her singles record to 14-4 on the season.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Thursday, March 10th in Jonesboro, Arkansas when they take on Arkansas State.
