Cyclones Fall to the No. 34 Horned Frogs

AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State tennis team (13-9, 2-7) faced its second nationally ranked opponent in a row on Sunday at the Forker Tennis Courts for Senior Day, falling to No. 34 TCU (14-5, 6-3 Big 12), 4-0. Ana Gasparovic and Alejandra Galvis were the two seniors who were honored.

The nationally-ranked Horned Frogs started off strong by defeating both of the Cyclones top pairings. With Samantha Budai sidelined due to the injury suffered Friday, Alejandra Galvis and Annabella Bonadonna moved up to the top doubles spot. Bonadonna and Galvis entered the match with a 5-1 record in Big 12 play. Unfortunately, the duo of Seda Arantekein and Olaya Garrido-Rivas defeated the Cyclones top duo 6-1.

The Cyclones were unable to get it going in singles play after losing the doubles point. The Horned Frogs defeated three Cyclone athletes to clinch the match. Iowa State will be back in action for their final competition of the year next weekend in Stillwater, Okla. for the Big 12 Championships. Match play will begin Thursday, April 28th and go till Sunday, May 1st.
