The Big 12 opener will pit two teams who have already faced their fair share of difficult opposition in 2016. K-State already has four wins over 2015 NCAA Tournament teams to their name, prevailing over Arizona, Creighton, then-No. 8 Hawaii and Miami (FL). The Wildcats' two losses came to a pair of ranked Big Ten opponents in Michigan and Wisconsin. Likewise, ISU has a pair of quality wins to its name over 2015 NCAA Championship sides Missouri State and Wichita State. The Cyclones' four losses this year (Creighton, Nebraska, UNI, Marquette)Â have all come to 2015 NCAA Tournament teams. Kansas State returned to the NCAA Volleyball Championship in 2015, and has made four of the past five editions.
ISU will be looking to reverse the home-dominant series between the Cyclones and KSU. The road team has not prevailed between the two teams since 2011, when ISU earned the win in the Little Apple. While the Cyclones have had their struggles in Manhattan, ISU leads the all-time series 48-38 on the basis of winning the past eight meetings in Ames.
