Student-Athletes of the Semester Announced

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State Office of Student-Athlete Development announced today that four Cyclone student-athletes have been honored for their hard work and dedication in the classroom by being named Student-Athletes of the Semester. The students being honored are Chase Allen (football), Madeline Johnson (Gymnastics), Bryce Meeker (football) and Kaci Storm (track & field).
Chase Allen - Freshman (Tight End)
Hometown:Â Nixa, Mo.
Major:Â Mechanical Engineering
Chase Allen earned Iowa State Student-Athlete of the Semester honors in just his first year on campus. The native of Nixa, Mo., redshirted his true freshman campaign during the 2016 football season, but is already receiving high marks in the classroom as a mechanical engineering major.
Madeline Johnson – Sophomore (All Around)
Hometown:Â North Saint Paul, Minn.
Major:Â Open Option
Madeline Johnson has stepped up to become a major contributor to the Cyclone gymnastics team in the first two weeks of the season. The sophomore has competed in three events in each meet, recording a pair of 9.750s on uneven bars to tie her career high.
Bryce Meeker – Redshirt Freshman (Offensive Line)
Hometown:Â Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Major:Â Open Option
Bryce Meeker was an important contributor for the ISU football squad during his redshirt freshman season in 2016. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native played in all 12 games, primarily on special teams, while also making appearances on the offensive line, including his first career start vs. UNI.
Kaci Storm – Redshirt Senior (Hurdles)
Hometown:Â Geneseo, Ill.
Major:Â Materials Engineering | Minor: Biomedical Engineering
Kaci Storm, a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, has been excellent in multi-events and hurdles during her time as a Cyclones. In 2016, Storm finished fourth at the Big 12 Championship in the heptathlon by tying or surpassing personal bests in five of seven events.
The Iowa State OSAD's Student-Athlete of the Month program was implemented by Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student Services Patrice Feulner. Student-athlete development staff members who oversee each sport submit nominations, and the staff votes on the monthly winner.
