Game #3Â - Appalachian State
• The Iowa State men's basketball team heads to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as it takes part in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off At Myrtle Beach Nov. 16-19 on the campus of Coastal Carolina...the tournament was moved after Hurricane Maria severely damaged Puerto Rico.
• Since 2013-14, Iowa State has won the 2013-14 Diamond Head Classic (Honolulu, Hawaii) and the 2015-16 Emerald Coast Classic (Niceville, Florida) and posted a record of 8-2 in regular season tournaments...the Cyclones have reached the finals of each tournament the last four seasons.
• ISU is playing four of its first five games on the road for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.
#CycloneNotes
• ISU looks to avoid an 0-3 start after falling to Milwaukee Monday night at Hilton Coliseum... Nick Weiler-Babb and Jeff Beverly led the Cyclones with 11 points each as poor shooting again hurt the Cyclones...Zoran Talley Jr. added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds off the bench.
• Weiler-Babb is one of five Big 12 players averaging 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists this season...the Arlington, Texas native has led the Cyclones in scoring in both games after never having done so previously.
• Iowa State, which is one of the most inexperienced teams in the nation, has struggled early this season...the Cyclones are shooting just 38.8 percent from the field and 26.5 percent behind the arc.
• The Cyclones are expected to welcome a pair of players to the lineup when Princeton graduate transfer Hans Brase and redshirt freshman Cameron Lard enter the lineup this week...Brase returns from his second ACL injury in as many seasons and will provide much needed leadership to the lineup, while Lard has been held out by coaches decision and will give ISU a rim protector and a mobile big man to run the floor.
• Steve Prohm is 47-25 as head coach of the Cyclones and 151-54 in his seventh season as a head coach...his .653 winning percentage at ISU leaves him just percentage points shy of Fred Hoiberg (.673) on top of the list...Prohm has won at least 20 games in each of his first six seasons leading a program.
• Sophomore Solomon Young owns ISU's longest streak of consecutive starts at 14 games...grad transfer Jeff Beverly has started all 69 games in his career at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (34), UTSA (33) and Iowa State (2).
• Young had two blocks against Milwaukee and is averaging 1.4 blocks per game in his last seven games dating back to last season.
• Donovan Jackson enters this weekend as a career 43.8 percent 3-point shooter, despite missing on all four attempts against Milwaukee...Jackson has hit a three in five of his last seven games dating back to last season.
• ISU's roster has seven newcomers (most since 2013-14, 8), a tally that includes: Three grad transfers, two sit-out transfers and two freshmen... all eight players that have been available to play in the first two games have scored in both games for the Cyclones.
Iowa State-Appalachian State Series Notes
• Iowa State and Appalachian State will meet for the first time when they play Thursday.
• This will be Steve Prohm's first time facing Appalachian State and head coach Jim Fox.
• ISU is 9-0 all-time against teams currently in the Sun Belt Conference.
Last Time Out: Cyclones Fall To Milwaukee In Home Opener
• Iowa State's shooting woes continued as it connected on just 38.1 percent of its field goal attempts in a 74-56 loss to Milwaukee in its home opener Monday night.
• Weiler-Babb was in double figures for the second time in as many games, finishing with 11 points...Jeff Beverly also reached double-figures, connecting on 7-of-7 free throws to match Weiler-Babb with 11 points...Talley Jr. had another solid game off the bench, finishing with eight points and nine rebounds.
• The Cyclones made 21-of-28 free throws, both season highs...ISU was hurt by 18 turnovers.
