SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior guard Bridget Carleton was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Preseason Watch List, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced today. Carleton was one of just 20 players in the nation to be named to the watch list, which recognizes the top small forwards in NCAA women's basketball.
Carleton averaged 15.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks in her sophomore campaign, earning unanimous All-Big 12 First-Team honors. She is one of just four Big 12 returners to earn a unanimous selection to the postseason team.
By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2018 Cheryl Miller Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Ms. Miller and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. Cyclone fans will also have the opportunity to vote for Carleton at www.hoophallawards.com.
The winner of the 2018 Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award will be announced during ESPN2's telecast of the national semifinal games in the 2018 NCAA Women's Final Four in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, March 30.
