Cyclones Sweep Montana, Prepare for the Hawkeyes

IOWA CITY, Iowa– The Iowa State tennis team (3-1, 0-0 Big 12) kept the winning streak going by shutting out the Montana Grizzlies (1-2, 0-0 Big Sky) 7-0 on Saturday at the Hawkeye Tennis Complex.
The Cyclones got off to a hot start in doubles play by sweeping all three matches against their Grizzlies opponents. The top pairing of Samantha Budai and Maty Cancini defeated Hannah Sulz and Catherine Orfanos 6-4. Regina Espindola and Karen Alvarez also won 6-4 to secure the doubles point.
Iowa State never took their foot off the pedal as they completed the sweep with six victories in singles play. The Cyclones took five of the matches in two sets. Maty Cancini and Annabella Bonadonna were impressive once again for Iowa State. Cancini defeated Montana's Lidia Dukic 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 and Bonadonna beat Millica Panic 6-1, 6-1.
Iowa State will be back in action in Iowa City, Iowa to take on their in-state rival, the Iowa Hawkeyes (3-0, 0-0 Big 10) at 2:30 PM. The game is part of the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series.
