AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team faced its fifth-straight ranked opponent Friday and fell to No. 5 Texas Tech, 4-0. The Cyclones dropped to 15-7 overall and 1-5 in the Big 12, while the Lady Raiders improved to 19-3 overall and 7-0 in conference action.
The Cyclones fell behind early with Texas Tech riding three ranked doubles duos to earn the point. The Lady Raiders won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, erasing a Cyclone lead at the No. 2 slot as Regina Espindola and Erin Freeman were leading their opponent, 3-2, when the point was clinched.
A pair of quick wins at No. 5, No. 1 and No. 6 singles clinched the match for the Lady Raiders.
The Cyclones return to action Sunday with another ranked foe on the docket in No. 30 TCU at 1 p.m. at Fort Worth, Texas.
