AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team (15-6, 1-4 Big 12) will meet two Big 12 foes this weekend in No. 5 Texas Tech (18-3, 6-0 Big 12) and No. 30 TCU (10-7, 2-3 Big 12).
The matches against Texas Tech and TCU will mark six straight matches against ranked opponents for Iowa State.
The Cyclones are coming off of two tough losses against Baylor and Texas. Iowa State played well early, but couldn't keep up with the hard-hitting play of the Lady Bears and Longhorns.
Sami Budai and Maty Cancini played well at the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively. The pair only dropped one match in singles play over the weekend.
The duals this weekend will provide another challenge for a young Cyclone club. Texas Tech will bring three singles players ranked in the top 100 of the latest ITA rankings. TCU also claimed a singles player ranked at No. 73.
The match against Texas Tech will be at 3 p.m. in Lubbock on Friday. Iowa State will face-off with the TCU Horned Frogs in Fort Worth on Sunday at 1 p.m.
