No. 24 Oklahoma State Rallies Past Iowa State

STILLWATER, Okla. – Iowa State (17-18, 0-2 Big 12) fell victim to a sixth-inning rally on Saturday, as No. 24 Oklahoma State (23-7, 2-0 Big 12) defeated the Cyclones 7-2 in the second of a three-game series.
Sydney Stites hit her fifth home run of the season in the first inning to give Iowa State an early lead, while junior Emma Hylen gave the Cyclones a quality start. Hylen allowed four earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts against one of the nation's best offenses. However, OSU scored six runs in the sixth inning to win in comeback fashion.

The Cyclones got the start they were looking for on Saturday at Cowgirl Stadium. After trailing for the entirety of game one of the series, Sydney Stites gave Iowa State its first lead of the weekend in the top of the first inning. The junior from Bozeman, Mont., ripped a solo home run to right field to put Iowa State on the board. It was her fifth homer of the season, ranking No. 2 on the team.
Sally Woolpert then reached on an error, followed by Kaylee Bosworth being hit by pitch. With two outs, Nychole Antillon dropped an RBI single down the right field line, scoring Bosworth from third to put Iowa State ahead 2-0.
The Cowgirls got on the board in the home half of the third inning, as Madi Sue Montgomery laced an RBI single through the right side to score Vanessa Shippy. What looked like it could be a big inning for OSU was ended when ISU shortstop Sami Williams turned a 6-3 double play.
Iowa State was unable to continue its early offensive success, as the Cyclones were held without a hit over the final six innings.
Oklahoma State broke through, exploding for six runs on three hits in the home half of the sixth inning, and were aided by a Cyclone fielding error. The Cowgirls took the lead for good on back-to-back fielder's choices for Michaela Richbourg and Maddi Holcomb that brought runs to the plate.

The Cyclones and Cowgirls are set to play the series finale on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
