ZHUHAI, China – Former Iowa State golfer Chonlada Chayanun won her first professional event, claiming the Hengqing Phoenix Tree Building Orient Golf Challenge yesterday. The tournament is a part of the LPGA China Tour.
Chayanun fired final-round 69 to place her in a five-player playoff where she emerged victorious with a birdie on the first playoff hole.
Chayanun was four strokes out of the lead heading into the final round after beginning the tournament with rounds of 70-72. Chayanun rattled off birdies at the 12th and 13th holes and ended the round with a key birdie on No. 18 to get her into the playoff.

A native of Nakhonratchaslma, Thailand, Chayanun is one of the greatest golfers in Cyclone history, earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors in 2014 and 2015.
The 2015 Iowa State Female Athlete of the Year placed seventh at the 2014 NCAA Championships, the highest finish ever by a Cyclone in a postseason tournament. She ended her Cyclone career with school records in season stroke average (73.09), career stroke average (74.71), 54-hole score (209) and 18-hole score (65).
