Iowa State outscored the Sooners in the second half, 17-13, but were unable to get closer than one score despite a strong showing from redshirt sophomore Zeb Noland, who started in place of an injured Kyle Kempt.

OU led 24-10 at the half after a pair of late touchdowns broke up a 10-10 tie. Noland connected on a 51-yard pass to Hakeem Butler with 13:15 left in the second quarter to knot the score. The play came after a fumble was forced by Greg Eisworth and recovered by Richard Bowens.
