AMES, Iowa – After an impressive final team score of 196.700, the Iowa State gymnastics team has re-entered the RoadToNationals rankings holding the 23rd spot. This is the second time Iowa State has been ranked this season after being ranked 24th following week one.
The Cyclones 196.700 was highlighted by a multitude of fantastic team statistics, including tying the best score during head coach Jay Ronayne's tenure, the highest February team score under Ronayne and the best February team score since 2005.
The seniors for Iowa State collectively had a tremendous meet. Meaghan Sievers and Kelly Martin both recorded personal bests, Sievers tallied a 9.925 on floor and Martin had a great vault scoring a 9.900. Sydney Converse and Madeline Johnson were equally impressive scoring 9.850s on bars. Converse's routine was special because it was the first official time she had competed on bars.
The No. 23 Cyclones will be back in Hilton Coliseum on Friday night for a meet starting at 6:30 a.m. The Cyclones will host Southern Utah on Daddy-Daughter Night and Superhero Night. For more info, click here.
