- ISU checks in at No. 20 in the AP Top 25 poll, after going 1-1 last week. Iowa State ranks No. 12 in the latest RPI projections and is ranked No. 3 in strength of schedule. ISU is also ranked No. 22 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. In the first NCAA Top-16 reveal the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee put Iowa State at 15th overall, making them a No. 4 seed in the Chicago regional.
- Kristin Scott has been making waves in her sophomore campaign. She ranks fifth in the Big 12 in scoring (15.7 PPG) and sixth in rebounding (7.6 RPG) in conference games. She is currently No. 3 in the nation in 2-point field-goal percentage, knocking down 70.8 percent. Her 59.2 percent from the floor on the year ranks third in the Big 12.
- According to HerHoopStats, Scott also checks in at No. 2 nationally in points per play (1.28), No. 6 in effective field-goal percentage (67.5%) and No. 4 in points per scoring attempt (1.39).
- Bridget Carleton (1,997) is currently second in school history in scoring, she is 152 points behind all-time scoring leader Angie Welle (2,149), and just three points away from becoming the second player to reach 2,000 career points at ISU. She also holds the school record in scoring average, netting 17.1 points per game in her career and counting.
- Carleton's 615 points currently ranks third on the ISU single-season scoring list. She is also on pace to break the ISU single-season scoring average record set by Angie Welle in 2002 (20.5 PPG), as she is averaging 22.0 PPG. Carleton is also looking to be just the third Cyclone to lead the Big 12 in scoring, as Angie Welle (20.5, 2002) and Lindsey Wilson (19.2, 2003) completed the feat.
- Ashley Joens has connected on 59 3-pointers this season, which ranks fourth all-time among ISU freshmen. With three triples against OU, Joens passed Carleton, who netted 55 her freshman year. She needs just three to pass Megan Taylor (61).
- Iowa State is on pace to set a school record in points per game in a single season, averaging 80.5 PPG. The current record of 79.9 PPG was set in the 1999-00 season. Iowa State has already tied the 1999-00 team as the only two Big 12 teams to score 100 or more points on two conference opponents in a single season.

- After a clutch 3-pointer by Kristin Scott to bring ISU within two, 62-60, Carleton delivered the game-tying and game-winning layup with 3.1 seconds on the clock. Ashley Joens provided solid defense on the last-second shot by Chrislynn Carr to secure the Cyclones' 64-62 win.
- The win also gave head coach Bill Fennelly his 500th victory at Iowa State. The Cyclones were led by Carleton who scored all 27 of her points in the second half. She also added 11 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals.
