AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State schedule for the 2021 indoor track and field season has been announced. This year's slate, which will be subject to changes throughout the pandemic season, features a pair of home meets.
The indoor season started last weekend at the K-State Winter Invitational, and will resume in the Little Apple to begin 2021 with the Wildcat Invitational on Jan. 9. That is followed by the first of ISU's home meets, a one-day event in the Iowa State Cyclone Invite on Saturday, Jan. 23.
After a one-year hiatus, Iowa State will return to the Razorback Invitational on Jan. 29-30. The Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas will also serve as the hosts of the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Cyclones plan on running the first weekend of February, but are currently leaving their plans open.
The Iowa State Classic returns to the Lied Recreation Athletic Center on Feb. 12-13, a meet that has traditionally been one of the top qualifying meets in the country for middle and long distance runners for the NCAA Championships. The Cyclones have qualified for the NCAA Championships in the DMR the past two seasons, and will be looking for that again at the JDL DMR Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Feb. 19.
The Big 12 Indoor Championships, for which the Iowa State men are the defending champions, returns to Lubbock and Texas Tech in 2021 on Feb. 26-27. The NCAA Indoor Championships will take place on March 12-13.
