WACO, Texas - No. 48 Iowa State (9-4, 1-1) fell on the road to No. 27 Baylor (9-1, 1-0), 6-1, Friday night. Despite a strong effort from the Cyclones the Bears were able to secure the doubles point and victories in five singles games to win the match.
The Cyclones and Bears battled hard for the doubles point. Baylor opened with a win at the one slot, but the No. 48 pairing of Thasaporn Naklo/Christin Hsieh answered with a 6-2 win at the two slot.
The Bears eventually clinched the doubles point with a very close 7-6 (4) over the Chie Kezuka/Margarita Timakova pairing.
Maty Cancini won the lone point for the Cyclones in the top singles slot with a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 win over Baylor's Mel Krywoj.
The Cyclones will travel to Austin now to face the Longhorns, Sunday at noon.
