NORMAN, Oklahoma – Iowa State (15-8, 7-5 Big 12) got its much-needed weekend sweep with a 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 27-25, 25-17) win over Oklahoma (10-13, 4-8 Big 12) Saturday at McCasland Field House. The Cyclones completed a 2-0 season against the Sooners for the first time since 2017.
Once again, it was Annie Hatch leading the way as the Cyclones hit .312 as a team for the night.. A day after tying her career-high with 18 kills, the junior outside hitter set a new career-best with 22 kills at .354 hitting, while also having her second-straight double-double with a team-high 16 digs and leading the Cyclones with six blocks. Mariah Mitchell's outstanding run in place of Eleanor Holthaus continued with 12 kills at .346 hitting. Set One: Iowa State 25 Oklahoma 16
The visiting Cyclones got the first breathing room of the set, going on a 4-0 run that included kills from three different players to move ahead 8-5. After one of the best matches of her career Friday night, Annie Hatch was at it again, getting five kills on her first eight swings to help ISU move ahead 13-9. Hatch got three kills as part of a 5-0 run that got ISU ahead 16-9. Iowa State's attack rolled to 17 kills and .333 hitting as a team while holding the Sooners to just five kills on .037 hitting. Mariah Mitchell got through the block for a kill to wrap up the first, 25-16.
Set Two: Oklahoma 25 Iowa State 22
Oklahoma fought back well to start the second, using a 4-0 run to move ahead 8-4. It took awhile for the ISU fightback to get rolling, but it eventually got going with a 4-0 run to tie it back up at 16-16 when Megan Wilson was called for a double-hit. After having it tied at 19-19, OU went on a 4-0 run to get ahead 23-22 but ISU fought back with three-straight to get back within one at 23-22. Oklahoma evened the set by stuffing Hatch on consecutive rallies to make it 25-22. ISU out-hit OU by 46 points in the set, but were hampered by five service errors.
Set Three: Iowa State 27 Oklahoma 25
ISU opened the set with the first four points, Allie Petry firing back-to-back aces. The Cyclone lead would get to as much as nine at 12-3 before the Sooners started to work their way back into the set. Oklahoma got within a pair at 14-12, and within a point at 16-15 after Peyton Dunn set into the donut. The Sooner short-serve continued to frustrate ISU's rhythm but Iowa State was able to regain composure and go on a 3-0 run which included a high Mitchell block of Megan Wilson to move back ahead by five at 21-16. Oklahoma held off four set points to tie the set at 24-24 and force some extra volleyball. ISU failed to put the set away at 25-24, but got another shot at 26-25 after Hatch won a 50-50 at the net, and finished off the set when Savannah Davison hit the antenna.
Set Four: Iowa State 25 Oklahoma 17
Both teams had to continue to work hard to get their points, but it was the Iowa State defense that stepped up to take control of the set. ISU went on a 6-1 run that included a trio of blocks to push the get ahead with some space at 13-8. The Cyclones were able to ride its offense from there, as the Cyclone attack fired at .552 hitting for the set, committing no attack errors in the process. Iowa State's defense stepped up again, notching five blocks to hold Oklahoma to .000 hitting on the set. Avery Rhodes fired a kill to wrap up the set at 25-17 and the match.
Player of the Match
Annie Hatch. The best match of the junior's career went down in Norman on Saturday, as the Mesa, Arizona native set a new career-high with 22 kills at .354 hitting. She notched her second double-double in as many matches with 16 digs and led the ISU block with six stuffs.

Iowa State is back at Hilton Coliseum next weekend for a pair against Kansas State. The first match will be on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., with the second on Saturday at 1 p.m., which will also serve as the Cyclones' Senior Day.
