AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Athletics honored its outstanding achievers in the classroom today on Cyclones.com and across social media platforms.
Cyclone student-athletes continue to excel in academic work. In November, Iowa State improved its Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for the sixth-straight year with a record-setting mark of 92%, tying for second in the Big 12 Conference.
Iowa State boasted nine sport teams with perfect GSRs of 100% this year and its four-year Federal Graduation Rate (FGR) was at 72%, also second in the league.
The following student-athletes were recognized on the All-Cyclone team for achieving the highest GPA in their respective sports: Eric Steyer (men's basketball), Maddie Frederick (women's basketball), Thomas Pollard (men's cross country), Dana Feyen (women's cross country), Charlie Kolar (football), Lachlan Barker (men's golf), Liyana Durisic (women's golf), Laura Cooke (gymnastics), Nicole Martindale (soccer), Logan Schaben (softball), Martha Haas (swimming & diving), Ting-Pei Chang (tennis), Scott Fuchs (men's track & field), Bailey Righi (women's track & field), Abby Greiman (volleyball) and Charlie Klepps (wrestling).
Pollard was voted captain of the team.
Team GPA awards recognized the highest collective team GPA for each of our male and female sports. The highest team GPA for the eighth consecutive year is men's golf (3.69) and for the sixth consecutive year women's cross country (3.73).
The Norm Boyles Award, given annually to a faculty member who has made a sustained contribution to the welfare of Iowa State student-athletes, was presented to Phil Caffrey. Caffrey is Iowa State's Associate Director of Admissions and has spent 39 years with the admissions department.
Members of the 2020-21 Farm Strong Squad were also recognized: Eric Steyer (men's basketball), Kristin Scott (women's basketball), Thomas Pollard (men's cross country), Cailie Logue (women's cross country), O'Rien Vance (football), Tripp Kinney (men's golf), Joy Chou (women's golf), Andrea Maldonado (gymnastics), Georgia Wimmer (soccer), Sami Williams (softball), Lehr Thorson (swimming & diving), Chie Kezuka (tennis), Roshon Roomes (men's track & field), Keiara Williams (women's track & field), Brooke Andersen (volleyball) and Ian Parker (wrestling).
Thorson was named captain of the team.

The swimming & diving team earned the Cyclone Serve Award for total community service hours tabulated (162.5) and Jayna Misra was recognized for her individual service with 33 hours.
The Iowa State Letterwinners Club recognized six Cyclones who have been exceptional representatives of Iowa State in the areas of academics, athletics, leadership, and community outreach: Tripp Kinney (men's golf), Charlie Kolar (football), Cailie Logue (women's track & field/cross country), Thomas Pollard (men's track & field/cross country), Logan Schaben (sotball) and Maddie Wise (women's basketball).
The accomplishments of Kolar and Logue stood out and were the recipients of the Letterwinner All-Around Awards.
