AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (18-9, 9-4 Big 12) meet the No. 15-ranked Baylor Bears (21-5, 10-3 Big 12) inside the Ferrell Center tomorrow for the top-three battle in the Big 12 standings. The Cyclones won the first meeting on Sept. 28 while Baylor was ranked 13th in the nation.
The match will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ beginning at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Iowa State completed the season sweep against Texas Tech in four sets. Following last week's action, ISU received votes in the Nov. 14 AVCA Coaches Poll for the second week in a row. ISU solidified the fourth victory, and second this season, with the opponent hitting .300 or higher under Christy Johnson-Lynch. The Cyclones have now defeated all four Texas Big 12 schools inside Hilton Coliseum for the first time since 2012.
Maya Duckworth earned her third Big 12 Rookie of the Week nod for her performances last week, notching double-figure kills in both matches and a double-double vs. TTU (15 kills, 10 digs).
Annie Hatch matched Duckworth with 15 kills, while achieving the total at .312 hitting. Eleanor Holthaus was the third Cyclone in double digits with 11 kills while she also tallied her 900th career dig in the match.
A crowd of 3,169 witnessed the victory over Texas Tech as Iowa State now moves up to No. 11 nationally in attendance with an average of 2,920. The average is currently the best in program history.
Cyclone servers sent 11 aces over for the third 10-plus ace match of the season. Three ties the highest season match total under Johnson-Lynch.
BAYLOR
Baylor's three conference losses come from Iowa State, Texas and most recently TCU on Nov. 12. TCU held then-No. 10 Baylor to .160 hitting while the Horned Frogs hit .289 over four sets. In conference matches, BU's Mallory Talbert ranks third with a hitting percentage of .395. Kara McGhee leads the league with 1.41 blocks per set.
