No. 21 Iowa State Has Historic Night in Hilton

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (8-4, 1-1 Big 12) posted a season high overall score, and the second highest of the Ronayne era, to defeat Lindenwood 196.875-193.100. The score is also tied for 19th highest overall score in school history.
The Cyclones were led by Maddie Diab once again as she earned a perfect 10.000 on floor, only the second in ISU history. Her score is the fifth perfect score across any event in school history and only the second 10 to be scored by a Cyclone in Hilton Coliseum. Diab previously earned a 9.950 and has four scores of 9.900 on the season. Andrea Maldonado also wrote her name in the history books tonight, scoring the fourth 9.975 on floor in Cyclone history. Her score is the seventh 9.975 across any event and she is the fifth gymnast to earn the score.
"It goes without saying I am incredibly proud of Maddie," said head coach Jay Ronayne. "She has worked her butt off to be as consistent as she is. To see her be rewarded for it, I am so happy for her I can't even express it in words. It was pretty sweet to see Andrea's score as well. The routine she did was just great, and she's been working on the little details. This is just going to help fuel her, she knows how good she is and she can show everyone else."
Floor
The Cyclones earned a season high floor score, posting a 49.350. Maddie Diab once again led the team, earning a perfect 10.000 for a career high. She was closely followed by Andrea Maldonado who earned a career high of her own, scoring a 9.975. Alondra Maldonado and Rachel Wilke both earned scores of 9.850 to set new career highs. Kelsey Boychuk finished out the scoring with a 9.675.
Vault
Iowa State shattered its season-high on vault with a 49.300, beating its previous best of 49.225 set at Denver. Makayla Maxwell led the way on the Cyclones' first event with a season-high 9.925 while Josie Bergstrom and Emilie Hong posted matching 9.875s to tie their career bests. Kelsey Boychuk added a 9.850 and Kaia Parker rounded out the scoring with a 9.775.
Beam
ISU went plus-49 for the first time on beam this season finishing with a 49.175. Meixi Semple paced the Cyclones with a 9.900, which tied her career best. Basuel also tied her career high with a 9.850 while Loyim and Josie Bergstrom each tallied a 9.825. Sophia Steinmeyer rounded out the scoring with a 9.775.
Bars
The Cyclones posted a 49.050 on bars, led by a Laura Cooke's 9.875 to win the event. Maxwell, Loganne Basuel and Hannah Loyim each tallied 9.800s while Ariana Orrego added. 9.775.
