AMES, Iowa – Iowa State soccer and head coach Matt Fannon announced the addition of CC Cobb to the coaching staff as an assistant coach Friday morning.
"We saw CC's resume and the work she has done within the areas of the game that can support our women and program off the field and were really excited," Fannon said. "Her education and dedication to providing the best possible support to our women is something that will help to create the ideal environment for our team. Speaking with her and understanding her goals and desire to learn and grow while here, along with adding her experience as a player and coach, made us enthusiastic about her appointment."
Cobb comes to Iowa State from Albany, where she served as an assistant coach for two seasons and helped her student-athletes to 11 All-America East Conference honors. In spring 2021, Cobb helped coach America East Striker of the Year Jasmine Colbert.
Cobb was also head coach of the WPSL's New York Shockers in the summer of 2021 for the club's inaugural season. Cobb coached four All-Conference players as the Shockers were named the East Region Franchise of the Year.
"I am honored and incredibly excited to be joining the women's soccer program here at Iowa State," Cobb said. Throughout the entire interview process, Matt and the rest of the staff were an absolute class act. After spending only about 24 hours in Ames for my interview, I knew this was a place I wanted to be. I want to thank Matt and the staff for entrusting me with this position and I am ready to hit the ground running."
Prior to Albany, Cobb spent two seasons at Marist College. With the Red Foxes, Cobb assisted in leading her team to back-to-back 9-8-2 records culminating in MAAC semifinal appearances.
Cobb began her coaching career at Wagner College in 2015 as an assistant. She spent three years at Wagner, overseeing one NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, one NEC All-Rookie Goalkeeper, and one NEC All-Conference Second Team selection.
Cobb was a midfielder at Tennessee from 2012-14, where she played for a Volunteer team that ranked in the top 20 in 2012 and the top 50 in 2013. She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll each season as a Vol and won the Scholar-Athlete Award in 2014.
Before attending Tennessee, Cobb spent two seasons at Florida State, where she won the ACC title in 2011 and helped the Seminoles to a Final Four. Academically, Cobb was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in both of her seasons in Tallahassee.
A native of Boca Raton, Fla., Cobb graduated magna cum laude from Tennessee in 2014 with a degree in Psychology, after spending two years at Florida State studying Business Management. She earned her MBA from Wagner in 2016.
