AMES, Iowa – Iowa State dropped the rubber match with No. 6 Oklahoma State, 11-1, in six innings on a windy Sunday afternoon at the Cyclone Sports Complex. The game was tight early, but the Cyclones (20-19, 1-5 Big 12) couldn't overcome seven errors late in the game as they fell to the Cowgirls (31-7, 8-1 Big 12).
Carli Spelhaug, Milaysia Ochoa, Alesia Ranches and Kasey Simpson all logged a hit in the contest. Iowa State's lone run came on a bunt single from Simpson in the second inning.
Saya Swain (6-3) struck out four in 4.1 innings and wore the loss in the circle. Ellie Spelhaug tossed 1.1 innings and allowed seven runs, all of which were unearned.
The game was closely contested for much of the afternoon as the Cowgirls led by only one (2-1) after four innings. Oklahoma State crossed two runs in the fifth before taking advantage of five ISU errors to plate seven runs in the sixth and put the game out of reach.
