Key Storylines
- Iowa State enters the series against Texas Tech having dropped nine of its last 10 games. Last weekend, the Cyclones won the series-opener against No. 6 Oklahoma State before falling in the next two games.
- The win over the No. 6 Cowgirls was the highest ranked opponent the Cyclones have defeated since beating No. 3 Texas in 2005. It was just the eighth win over a top 10 foe in program history.
- Iowa State is no stranger to playing in close games this season. Thirteen of ISU's games have been decided by two runs or less. The Cyclones are 3-10 in such games, including 2-6 in games decided by one run. Iowa State has left the tying or winning run stranded in scoring position in the final inning of three of those 10 losses and has lost via walk off three times.
- ISU started the season with 35 consecutive road games. The Cyclones were one of the last seven teams in the nation to play a home game this season.
At the Plate
- Iowa State's 39 home runs on the year are the sixth-most in a season in program history. ISU is one away from moving into a tie for fourth on the list.
- ISU has hit 65 doubles this season, the ninth-most nationally. Individually, Spelhaug leads the way with 12 two-baggers on the year (20th nationally).
- Lead-off batter Carli Spelhaug is averaging 1.21 runs per game (seventh nationally). Spelhaug is hitting .450 with four doubles and a home run in Big 12 play.
- Spelhaug is 40-of-40 on stolen base attempts in her career, tied for the third-most in program history.
- Mikayla Ramos' 13 home runs rank 21st nationally are tied for the fourth-most in a single season in program history. She has already tied her home run total from last season. Ramos has logged 44 RBIs in 39 games this season, the 12th-most in the country. Last season, Ramos batted in 57 runs to break Iowa State's single-season RBI record. By comparison, Ramos had 38 RBIs through 39 games in 2021.
- Freshman Angelina Allen has been a valuable addition for the Cyclones at the top of the order this season. Her 40 hits are tied for seventh in the Big 12 and are second among league freshmen.
- The Cyclones have reached base via walk 141 times in their first 39 games, the 16th-most nationally.
In the Circle

- Karlie Charles owns a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 6.22:1 (56 K, 9 BB), the 28th-best mark in the nation. Charles walks only .97 batters per seven innings, which is 23rd nationally and first in the Big 12.
