AMES, Iowa – Iowa State and head soccer coach Matt Fannon announced the 2022 schedule Wednesday. The Cyclones will host seven matches at the Cyclone Soccer Complex, beginning with an Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series showdown against Iowa Sept. 8.
ISU will face four teams that qualified for the 2021 College Cup, including two teams that advanced to at least the third round.
"We are excited to play such a high-caliber schedule this fall," Fannon said. "Of course, it will be a great challenge for our squad, each of whom I know are desperate to get back on the field and show our fans how far we have come."
After a preseason exhibition at Northern Iowa, Iowa State will open the new campaign with six consecutive road contests starting Friday, Aug. 12 at Minnesota. The road trip continues with games at Arizona (Aug. 18), Memphis (Aug. 25), Creighton (Aug. 28), Michigan (Sept. 1) and Kentucky (Sept. 4).
The Cy-Hawk match on Sept. 8 will kick off a five-game homestand for the Cyclones which includes dates against South Dakota (Sept. 11), Omaha (Sept. 15), Kansas State (Sept. 22) and West Virginia (Sept. 25). Big 12 play continues on the road for ISU with Oklahoma (Sept. 29), Texas Tech (Oct. 6) and TCU (Oct. 9).
Iowa State will alternate home and away dates to close the regular season. The Cyclones host Baylor (Oct. 13) before visiting Oklahoma State (Oct. 16). ISU welcomes Texas on Oct. 20 and concludes its regular season at Kansas Oct. 27.
The Big 12 Championship is scheduled for Oct. 30-Nov. 6 in Round Rock, Texas.
