LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Iowa State volleyball team (1-1) brought in the win against Wyoming (0-2) in four sets by scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-19, 26-24. The Cyclones tallied 10 aces on the night, the 16th game in the Christy Johnson-Lynch era to end with at least 10 aces.
The team collectively put up 52 kills, 50 digs, 18 blocks and 10 aces on the match.
Two Cyclones reached milestones with Alexis Englebrecht totaling 100 kills on her career and Eleanor Holthaus tallying the 700th dig of her career.
Mariah Mitchell and Holthaus hit in double figures as Holthaus led the team with 12 and Mitchell buried 11. Mitchell now holds 599 career kills. Jordan Hopp hit a highlight herself, setting a career-high 9 kills on .316 hitting. Brooke Stonestreet also hit a career high with 21 digs, topping her previous high of 18.
SET ONE
Wyoming led Iowa State with seven kills early in the set to lead the Cyclones. Maya Duckworth continued the dominance she began this morning slamming down a kill to come within two points of Wyoming at 12-10. Freshman Faith DeRonde served to her first career ace to continue contending with Wyoming ahead 16-14. The Cowgirls ultimately sealed the first with a 25-19 victory on .433 hitting to Iowa State's .179.
SET TWO
Engelbrecht officially hit her 100th career kill, bringing the score to 12-9 in the Cyclones' favor. Mitchell could also not be stopped as she tallied her sixth kill of the match to give Iowa State the win in the frame by a score of 25-20. ISU posted a hitting percentage of .371 in the second, leading Wyoming's percentage of .222.
SET THREE
The steady battle continued as Iowa State fought back to build a four-point lead early in the set at 6-2. The lead built up to five at 9-4 on an Engelbrecht kill as she tallied her sixth of the match on .455 hitting. Wyoming followed the Cyclone's scoring streak up with kills by Wyoming's Corin Carruth to tie it up at 11 each. The back-and-forth action continued with three additional ties, but the Cyclones kept on the pressure to take the set and the lead in the match by a score of 25-19.
SET FOUR
Mitchell tallied her 10th kill of the match for the first Cyclone point of the set. Three ties early in the frame built on the action. Iowa State then took over to lead by three at 9-6 on Newsome's third ace of the match. The Cowgirls tied it back up at 11s and 14s before taking the lead at 15-14. The score stayed within one deep into the frame before an ace by both Paula Krzeslak and Stonestreet and a kill by Engelbrecht brought Iowa State to match point at 24-22. A Wyoming block kept the match play going until an ace by Allie Petry won the game for the Cyclones.

Iowa State wraps up the Rumble in the Rockies with a match against Wichita State tomorrow at 2 p.m. Next weekend, the Cyclones continue their road stint with the Tiger Challenge hosted by LSU to contend against Penn State, LSU and Troy.
