STILLWATER, Okla. – For the 29th time in program history, the Iowa State men's cross country team will compete at the national championships. The Cyclones ran to a second-place finish with six All-Region honorees at the NCAA Midwest Regional to earn automatic qualifier status.
Trailing only Oklahoma State in the team race, Iowa State also picked up two points in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series as Iowa finished 12th overall.
Said Mechaal led the Cyclones with a top-five finish, placing fourth in 30:11.7 while Sanele Masondo was also a top-10 placement in seventh with a time of 30:23.7. Gable Sieperda, Rodgers Kiplimo and Tim Sindt rounded out Iowa State's top five, nearly all finishing under the 31-minute mark. Sieperda, a 2022 NCAA Championships individual qualifier, finished 13th with a time of 30:35.1 while Kiplimo was right behind in 14th with a time of 30:36.8. Sindt finished 18th in 31:00.3. Silas Winders also earned All-Region status with a 23rd-place finish in 31:15.4 and Kelvin Bungei ran for 51st with a time of 31:47.1.
