AMES, Iowa – No. 10 Iowa State will host Davidson Sunday at 6 p.m. in its 2023-24 home opener. The Cyclones are 30-7 inside Hilton Coliseum over the last five seasons and have won 11 consecutive duals at home dating back to 2021.
ISU will also send a contingent of wrestlers to the Grand View Open Saturday. Details on the tournament can be found at the end of this story.

Cyclone fans will be able to see two familiar faces in the Davidson corner Sunday evening. The Wildcats are coached by Nate Carr Jr., who wrestled at Iowa State from 2008-11, and is the brother of David Carr. Assisting Nate is Ames native Marcus Coleman who won 99 career matches and was a five-time NCAA Qualifier and two-time All-American for the Cyclones.

NOTABLE
- Iowa State opened its season with a 43-3 victory over Cleveland State Sunday inside David Carr's High School gym at Perry High School. All nine Cyclones who won tallied bonus points in the team score (1 WBF, 5 TF, 3 MD). Carr earned the lone pin of the dual in just 1:47.
- Half of Iowa State's lineup in the season opener were freshman or redshirt freshman. Four Cyclones – Caleb Helgeson, Nando Villaescusa, Evan Frost and Anthony Echemendia – made their career debuts in the ISU dual lineup against CSU. All four secured wins.
- The Cyclones were aggressive on their feet, earning 47 takedowns in the dual compared to Cleveland State's six.
- Yonger Bastida made the jump from 197 pounds to heavyweight this season. In preparation for the jump, he put on 43 pounds during the offseason while lowering his body fat percentage. Bastida still looked quick on his feet, racking up a team-best eight takedowns in his first match of the season.
- Identical twins Evan and Jacob Frost both wrestled in the dual against Cleveland State, making them the first set of brothers to appear in ISU's lineup since Michael and Gabe Moreno in 2015.
