AMES, Iowa - Iowa State begins its postseason with the Big 12 Championship March 4-5 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Head coach Kevin Dresser and the Cyclones are in search of their first team title since 2009 while David Carr looks to become Iowa State's second four-time Big 12 champion and first since 2002.

NOTABLE
- Six Cyclones were seeded third or better in the Big 12 Championship pre-seeds released Monday. David Carr was ISU's lone No. 1 seed while Marcus Coleman and Sam Schuyler each were listed as No. 2 seeds. Zach Redding, Paniro Johnson and Yonger Bastida are all No. 3 seeds.
- Marcus Coleman is one of four wrestlers in the conference set to wrestle in their fifth Big 12 Championship. Coleman recorded his best finish, third, last season.
- Three Cyclones - Corey Cabanban, Casey Swiderski and Paniro Johnson - will be making their postseason debuts in the tournament. A fourth Cyclone, Jason Kraisser, is in his first postseason with Iowa State after transferring into the program from Campbell.
- Oklahoma State's Daton Fix (133) and Iowa State's David Carr (165) are both vying for their fourth Big 12 titles. If both succeed, they would become the 10th and 11th wrestlers, respectively, to win four championships in the Big 12 era (1997-pres.).
- Carr aims to join Pete Galea (1973-76), Tim Krieger (1986-89) and Cael Sanderson (1999-2002) as the only four-time conference champions in school history. Carr would be Iowa State's second four-time champion in the Big 12 era.
- Carr has won 26 consecutive matches since his loss in the second round of the NCAA tournament last year. He has 12 wins over wrestlers ranked in the top 25 of the coaches poll, including six against top 11 foes. Half of Carr's 20 wins this season have come with bonus points. He has 72 takedowns to his name and has only allowed three.
