Iowa State Finishes Ninth at Big 12 Match Play

HOCKLEY, Texas - The Cyclones concluded the final day of Big 12 Match Play with a tie against tenth-seeded Kansas State with a score of 2-2-1, but took home ninth place honors on a tiebreaker. Iowa State ends the tournament with a 1-1-2 record.

Paul Beauvy picked up his first win of the tournament, defeating Kansas State's Kobe Valociek with a score of 2&1. Beauvy held onto the lead throughout the entire match.

Owen Sawyer won his match 5&3 against Erik Holmberg to pick up his second consecutive match victory.

Zach May tied his opponent, Cooper Schultz. May was in the lead throughout the match until the last hole.

Both Luke Metcalf and Luke Gutschewski fell to their opponents with a score of 1UP.

The Cyclones had a combine team score of 8-10-2 through all rounds of the tournament. Iowa State was led by Zach May with a team-best 2-1-1 record.

This wraps up the fall season for the Cyclones, as the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational scheduled for next week was canceled due to weather. Iowa State will start their spring season on Monday, Feb. 3 at the N.I.T. in Tuscon, Ariz.
