AMES, Iowa -Â After a one-year hiatus, Big 12 Match Play returns as the Cyclones travel to Salt Lake City for the three-day event. Iowa State finished ninth in the 2024-25 tournament.

Course Information
Salt Lake CC is a private regulation golf course with 18 holes and a yardage of 7209. The course features Rye/Blue tees, fairways, and A-4 Bent greens. It spans 175 acres and was designed by William Watson & Harold Lamb in 1920, with recent work by Todd Eckenrode in 2022. Salt Lake CC has hosted PGA Tour events such as the Western Open in 1947 and the Utah Open in 1960 and 1963.Â
Key Storylines
- The Cyclones placed 11th at the Cullan Brown Collegiate last weekend, shooting an 869 (+17) over the weekend.
- Freshman Ben Wheeler placed in the Top 25 for the first time in his career after tying for 21st last weekend. He tied for ninth in the field on Par 4's with a 4.00 average. His 54-hole score of 214 is good for the second-best by a Cyclone this season.
- Senior Dianchao Wu continued his solid senior season, tying for 36th with a 217 (+4). Wu's performance through the first three events marks the best three-event stretch in his career.Â
- Jackson McCommon tied for 53rd, shooting a 220 (+7). He shot a 70 (-1) on day one, sitting McCommon in the Top 15 after the first round. With that, McCommon notched his second round under par this season.
- Senior Owen Sawyer also tied for 53rd with his fellow Cyclone, shooting 38 pars over the last weekend, good for ninth best in the field. He will be competing in his third-career Big 12 Match Play Tournament, boasting a 5-3-1 record entering the weekend.
- Sophomore Jesse Trembath carded a 230 (+17) to tie for 79th place last weekend at the Cullan Brown Collegiate.
