Two Named to Big 12 Gymnastics Preseason Team

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State gymnasts Noelle Adams and Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa were each named to the first-ever Big 12 Gymnastics Preseason Team, the league announced Friday. The preseason team is made up of 31 spots, with six athletes in each of the five events (a tie on floor resulted in seven honorees).

Adams was selected for both vault and floor exercise events, while Bergstrom-Te Slaa was selected for vault. ISU gymnasts made up one-third of the vault team, tied with Arizona for the most representation on the squad. The pair of Adams and Bergstrom-Te Slaa accounted for 18 of the team's 28 event victories last year.

Adams, a sophomore from Mesa, Arizona, is back for the Cyclones after leading the team in event wins last season, collecting 14 in total. A three-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week winner, Adams earned three event wins on vault and five on floor exercise. Her personal best on floor (9.950) was the highest on the team in the event, while her highest on vault (9.900) was the second highest on the team in the event.

Bergstrom-Te Slaa, a senior from Boyden, Iowa, is back for her final season as a Cyclone. In 2024, Bergstrom-Te Slaa earned four event crowns on vault and a total of six on the year. She recorded her personal best vault score (9.925) at Boise State, and it was the highest vault performance by any Cyclone last year.

The Cyclones will kick off their season on January 3 when they head to Baton Rouge to face the defending national champion LSU Tigers at 7:30 p.m.
