GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 36 Iowa State (8-12, 2-2 Big 12) placed 3rd in this quad meet with a score of 195.825.
"The first half of the meet we did a great job executing. We started on beam, which is very difficult to do, and they set themselves up very nicely. We then scored a season high on floor to highlight the night. We failed to execute some things in the back half of the meet which left us with not the result that we wanted. This team continues to work hard for us, and we have another great opportunity next week at Big 12's." Head Coach Ashley Miles Greig said.
The Cyclones started the meet very strong. They had one of their best beam rotations of the season where they scored 49.175. This was led by Lauren Thomas with a 9.875. Thomas has been a consistent force all season long as the anchor of the beam lineup. The Cyclones also got two 9.85's. One from Hannah Loyim, and then Rachel Wilke. This tied Wilke's career high which she set in the prior meet against Iowa.
The Cyclones followed up their first rotation by setting a new season high on any event of 49.400. This came from their floor lineup. Ella Schell wrapped up this event with her routine scoring a 9.95 to top the charts for Iowa State. This tied the season high individual score as well as set a new career high in Schell's young career. Fellow freshman Noelle Adams scored her second straight 9.925, and directly before her the Cyclones got a 9.9 from Kaia Parker.
