Chul-Ak-Sorn Second After Day One of Mountain View Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. – Iowa State sophomore Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn shot an opening round 68 to lead the Iowa State women's golf team in the first round of the Mountain View Collegiate. As a team, the Cyclonitas shot a 295 and sit in ninth place in the 15-team field.

Chul-Ak-Sorn turned in three birdies and an eagle on the day, as she had her third round under 70 this season. Her eagle came on the par five eighth hole, as she sits in a tie for second. Liyana Durisic is tied for 29^th after the opening round. Durisic had a pair of birdies on the back nine, as she is two-strokes over.

Pammy Chookaew had a birdie on the 13^th, as she sits in a tie for 52^nd with a four-over 76. Tess Blair and Keeley Marx are tied for 61^st with a five-over 77. Blair had three birdies on the day, while Marx had two.

South Florida holds the team lead with a six-under 282, a four-stroke advantage over Houston. South Florida's Melanie Green has the individual lead with a five-under 67.

The Cyclones will tee off the second round at 9:45 a.m. (CT) on Saturday.
