AMES, Iowa – Iowa State freshman Audi Crooks continues to add to a sensational rookie season as she was named a regional finalist for the WBCA All-America team. She is Iowa State's first freshman to be considered for WBCA All-America honors. Crooks led Iowa State is scoring this season, averaging 19.2 points and breaking a host of program records.
Last week, Crooks was honored as Iowa State's first freshman to earn AP All-America status. The 6-3 center also became the Cyclones' first freshman to be a First-Team All-Big 12 selection, selected unanimously, and was a Big 12 All-Freshman Team member. Following an impressive run to the Big 12 Championship, she was named a member of the All-Tournament team as well.
The Algona, Iowa native tallied 635 points through 33 games, including a career-high 40 points on 18-of-20 shooting against Maryland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. She became the first women's basketball player to record a 40-point performance while shooting at least 90 percent from the floor in an NCAA Tournament game, joining Bill Walton (UCLA) as the only other collegiate basketball player to accomplish the feat.
Crooks set a new single-season Iowa State record for made field goals with 258 makes this season, passing Bridget Carleton's 254 set in 2018-19. She also holds Iowa State freshmen records for single-season points (635), field goals (258) and free throws (114). Her season total for points ranks sixth regardless of class for Iowa State and her scoring average ties the eighth-best mark set by Carleton in 2017-18.
